What is the FCCA?
About the Federal Court Clerks Association
Since our inception in 1922, the Association has derived its membership from the court family, including District Court, Circuit Court, Bankruptcy Court, and Probation/PTS employees, court reporters, and other stakeholders in the Federal Court system. The Clerks Council was formed in 1981 and the Deputy Clerks Council was formed in 1983.
The purpose of the Association is to promote the professionalism and integrity of the federal judiciary. It is also the goal of the FCCA to increase the proficiency of court employees, to support the independence of the judiciary, and to foster cooperation between courts and the community. The Association serves as an intermediary between the clerks, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the Federal Judicial Center, and the Judicial Conference of the United States Courts.
Through annual conferences, the FCCA promotes training to enrich the professionalism and skills of court members. The conferences provide the opportunity for clerks and deputy clerks to network, discuss innovations in court management and related topics, and exchange ideas.
Membership Eligibility: Any clerk, deputy clerk, or any employee appointed by the clerk of court, who is in a clerk's office of the United States courts; Any district or circuit executive, or any persons employed by them in the district or circuit executive's office of the United States courts; Any administrator of a special United States court; All current employees of the Judicial Branch of the United States and all lifetime members who have separated in good standing from a position within the Judicial Branch. Retirees of any of the above categories are welcomed to join the FCCA.
The membership year runs January 1 through December 31.
Membership periods are based on the calendar year beginning on January 1. Annual membership drives will begin in the fall and are effective the first day of each calendar year.
